Scenes from the past week or so...

We went to Los Cabos, a Mexican restaurant with a great outdoor area, for St. Patrick's Day.  Thanks to Aunt Ashleigh for letting us borrow this cool shirt! The weather was perfect, but the sun got a little bright for Owen.  I was happy to share my sunglasses with him.

Last weekend, Owen was teething and super fussy.  We didn't even go to church on Sunday, because I was afraid he'd cry the whole time... BUT, calling the Hogs with Daddy did make him smile.  Luckily, he felt better Sunday afternoon and we went to the zoo.

Doesn't he look like a big boy here?  It was so warm that we broke out the summer clothes. This hat is from his great aunt Annie. I love it!

 Lorelei and Ronan came to the zoo too.  This picture makes me laugh, because Owen looks really surprised.

Tummy time yesterday. I've been a little concerned, because Owen HATES tummy time and still isn't rolling over consistently. The physical therapist at work recommended rolling up a towel and putting it under his arms. This makes a huge difference.  He has stayed on his tummy for 10-15 minutes at a time yesterday and today.  Usually, he fusses after about 10 seconds.

The weather is gorgeous again today.  I love springtime so much. When he wakes up from his nap, we're heading out for a walk.

Could you be any cuter?

I know-all I talk about is Owen, but he is so cute and so sweet! I'm more than a little obsessed, but I think that's a good thing.  I went to get him up Monday morning and he looked so precious, I couldn't help but take a few pictures.  For some reason, he sleeps later on days that he needs to get up for daycare, but on most days that we will be home he likes to be up early for extra playtime with Mommy. : )

AND he's 5 months old today! We are so blessed!

Let's Go to the Zoo

 We've lived in Tulsa for nearly three years and hadn't visited the zoo yet. It was gorgeous outside yesterday and Marcus's parents were visiting, so a trip to the zoo sounded perfect.  Owen got to test drive his new big-boy stroller.  He stayed awake nearly the entire time we were there and really enjoyed looking around.  His favorite animal was the macaw.  Its feathers were really bright and we got to see it up close.  It was super loud, but he wasn't scared of it. We didn't get to see everything at the zoo, but will definitelty be going back.

2 acronyms

One is good and one is bad. I'll start with the good one.
1. JBF-Just Between Friends Sale.   It was so much fun to go with my friend, Patrice, whose baby boy is a few months older than Owen. A year ago you couldn't convince me of this, but boys are so fun to shop for. : )  For the first time, I sold some stuff, which allowed me to make some money and get in early.  I sold maternity clothes that I didn't wear, some baby clothes that were not the right size for the summer, and a few other random things.  I bought 30 items including a tummy time mirror, one of those little play tables that babies stand at, two pairs of shoes, and lots of cute clothes.  I spent $154 and made $60.  I thought that was great for the large amount I bought and the small amount I sold.

2. RSV-Respiratory Synctical Virus.  It has been making my sweet baby fussy, sleepy, not hungry, and sick since thursday.  Owen woke up that morning in a great mood and didn't see sick at all.  Around lunchtime, he started crying and was inconsolable.  He had a fever and just wasn't himself.  We were able to get a doctor's appointment friday morning.  When we arrived he was smiling and didn't have a fever anymore.  I felt silly for even taking him. Thank goodness I did though. He was diagnosed with bronchiolitis, and after the lab results came back, RSV.  I had heard of RSV before, but didn't know much about it.  There really isn't any medicine for it.  We are using saline drops and suctioning his nose, using a humidifier, and giving him tylenol as needed.  I hate seeing him sick.  He coughs alot and his breathing sounds terrible.  He just wants to be held and sleep.  He smiles occasionally, but isn't laughing or "talking".   I took the day off today and Marcus is going to work from home the next two days, so I can work. We go back to the doctor friday for a follow-up appointment.  Please keep him in your prayers.

busy busy week

It feels like we've been going nonstop for the past week.  Things are going great-just busy.  My parents and brother came to visit last weekend.  I just love when they visit!! My parents are always so helpful and it gives me a little break. We didn't do anything too exciting-went out to eat a couple of times and did a little shopping.

Sunday, we tried a new Venezuelan restaurant which was soooo good, looked at houses for a couple of hours, and hosted community group. Whew! Monday through Wednesday I was busy and super-productive at work.  Yesterday was Owen's 4 month checkup.  He's above the 80th percentile in length, weight, and head circumference and was a trooper getting his shots. After that, I got some maternity and baby clothes ready to sell at Just Between Friends and dropped it all off. Can't wait to shop there tomorrow!  Here's what Owen has been up to:

Valentine's Day

 Marcus and I always say that we aren't "Valentine's people", but we love a good excuse to go out to dinner. This year he made reservations for the Valentine's Dinner at Chik-fil-a.  It was so cheesy and fun-and very baby-friendly.  They had tablecloths and candles on the tables, menus, waitresses, a violinist, a rose for all the ladies, chocolates, and pictures with the cow.  I highly recommend it! : )

Owen "made" this for me at daycare. It's definitely my favorite Valentine I've ever received!!! Looking at it has made me extra happy all week long.

Art and Literature

Owen is such a well-rounded baby.  Not only does he make beautiful artwork at daycare, but he also enjoys reading in his chair.
