25 things about me

Everyone has been doing these on Facebook and I've seen it on a few blogs too. I thought it would be something fun to post.
1. I am liking Oklahoma better every day, but still miss my family.
2. I have an amazing husband and probably annoy others by bragging about all the nice stuff he does for me.
3. I have worked with a ton of kids with interesting names...let me know if you want to hear about them.
4. I love working with autistic kids-the more challenging, the better. I don't have any on my caseload right now though.
5. I hate mice, but love their favorite food-cheese.
6. I have a friend who knows how to drive a tractor, weld, and castrate various animals.
7. My friends from college are still some of my best friends-even though they live all over the country.
8. I love turkey sandwiches and could eat them every day.
9. I subscribe to 3 magazines (Glamour, EveryDay with Rachel Ray, and All You) and like to look at them while a dry my hair in the morning.
10. I am a big nerd. I used to love spelling bees and grammar bingo. I still love Wheel of Fortune.
11. Marcus and I are going to Mexico in 36 days for our 2nd anniversary!!!
12. I hate being cold or hungry.

18. I am really bad at sports too-except water polo. We played it in my college swimming class and I had a natural talent for it. HaHa :)
19. I definitely want to have kids eventually, but the thought of no more sleeping, traveling, or going to nice restaurants kind of freaks me out.
20.I love to shop for purses.
21.My favorite thing about tulsa is our church. We have met so many great people in a short time.

23.I like books that make me cry, especially Nicholas Sparks.
24.Marcus is better at decorating the house than I am.

more ice

So I am off work today for ice. It's ice day #3 so far this winter. I've heard horror stories about last year's ice storm in Oklahoma and was pretty nervous, but it really hasn't been that bad. Marcus and I both woke up around 4:45 this morning because we heard the ice coming down. We were wide awake and watched tv until about 6. Has anyone else seen the "Your Baby Can Read" infomercial? It is fascinating. I think I'll have to buy it when we have kids. Marcus ended up going to work and my office was open, but I decided to stay home. I don't have any paid time off right now, but I really don't know what I would have done all day in the office. I discovered something really cool today that everyone else probably already knows about....yahoo radio. Marcus told me about it the other day-you can customize your own station. You pick the genres and singers you like and it makes a station just for you. It even chooses songs that it "thinks" you'll like and it did a good job of that. It was wonderful to use while I was on the elliptical. Maybe I am too easily amused, but I thought it was amazing!!! Here are a couple of ice pictures. By the way...yesterday my hair partially froze while I was de-icing my car after work. It felt really weird!

cupcakes!

My friend Jessica sent me some Sprinkles cupcake mix for my birthday and I finally got around to baking them yesterday. It was a great lazy saturday project. I ate so much batter and icing yesterday that I was really full when it was time to eat the actual cupcakes (hopefully I won't get salmonella!), but I just ate one after my sunday nap and it was delicious. Thanks Jess! I usually don't consider myself to be a good baker, because I'm not very patient with the cooling and precision of ingredients; but I think this has gotten me onto a baking kick.

a blah monday

I woke up in a bad mood today. Around 11 this morning, Marcus called me and said that he had to go to texas for work, was leaving soon, and wouldn't be back until thursday night or friday morning. He had to fill in for a guy who had a death in his family. He's gone on work-realted trips before and I'm fine by myself for a few days, but I was sad that I didn't get to say goodbye in person. At work one of my reports was denied by medicaid, so I have to fix that tomorrow and justify why I recommended the amount of therapy I did-not a big deal, but an inconvenience. Then the travel agent called and said our debit card didn't go through because it has a maximum limit for transactions and our upcoming trip is over that limit. I got home from taking a check to the travel agent and as I reached for the garage door opener, it fell under my seat of my car. It took me a good five minutes to find it. Again not a big deal, but very frustrating. I just wanted to be home and couldn't get in without the garage door opener. This evening has been better though. I was able to talk with my parents for awhile, use my elliptical, catch up on laundry. and get my Jon and Kate fix. Hopefully I'll wake up on the right side of the bed tomorrow.

house pictures

Here are some pictures of our house. There are still a few things we want to do, but it is coming along really well. We want to paint the dining room and guest bathroom, but thought we should wait a couple of months before we ask the homeowners about that!
This isn't a great picture, but I love the color of the kitchen.

Our bedroom is huge! My aunt built this bed for us and I just got the cedar chest from my grandmother. It matches the bed perfectly.

Marcus is awesome!!!

I came home from work yesterday and Marcus had this waiting for me:

I haven't worked out in forever. Cold weather and working late have been major contributers. I have been wanting an elliptical, but thought I'd get a used one or a really cheap one. Marcus bought me a really nice one and he paid for most of it using a giftcard that was given to him. He put it together in about 2 hours last night. He is too sweet to me! I got up early to exercise this morning and it was so nice. I was actually excited to get up at 6:15! :)

apartment pictures and my frugal weekend

This has been a fantastic weekend. It has been so relaxing and nice to have no plans. We have also not spent alot of money on food or shopping which can sometimes be a problem for us on weekends. We ate at home friday night and last night we used a papa john's coupon for a free pizza. It came in the mail last week and said that they were sorry that our last visit wasn't satisfactory. The funny thing is we order from them alot and have never complained, so I don't know why we got that card...anyway it was nice to get a free pizza! Yesterday, I bought alot of groceries and a new vacuum at Walmart and only spent $65 thanks to some giftcards I had. I also bought this purse at Target for $11. I've had my eye on it since it was $23, but I had a feeling it would go on sale.
As promised, here are some pics from the apartment. I know everyone has been checking the blog every few hours waiting for these pictures. LOL
This was our master shower. Marcus called the office probably 5-6 times to tell them it was leaking and they wouldn't do anything abou it. After the ceiling caved in, the "repair work" was only partially completed. The painter said not to use the shower until he came back to finish the job. That was November 17th. This picture was taken when we moved out.
The patched-up ceiling.

Beautiful tilework beside the fireplace.

Kids repeatedly knocked the screens out of our porch. We finally gave up and left them down.
Ok, that's it for complaining about the apartment! We are SOOOO thankful we found this house. Here's a random picture from New Year's Eve that I love.

Marcus and his little friend, Landon. Marcus loves to feed kids sweets and candy when their parents aren't around. Note the chocolate in Landon's hand. Don't worry... he doesn't give them peanuts. He's pretty cautious about allergies. Landon and Marcus really bonded that night. It was adorable!

it's me again!

I am so far behind on my blogging! Marcus and I had a very happy new year. One of my best friends from college,Colleen, and her baby Claire visited me on new years eve. We did some bargain shopping and had lunch. It was so fun. That night, we hung out with some friends from church and ate lots of party food. Things have been busy with getting moved into the house. The house is wonderful. We've gotten most of our stuff put away and just need to work on our office. I'll post some pictures of the house soon. Marcus also took some good pictures of the crappiness of our apartment before we moved out which I'll try to post too. Last night we had some friends over to watch the Flordia/OU game. Even though we live in OK, we cheered for our SEC conference-mates, the gators. I really don't get all the boomer sooner stuff. This weekend we are just going to hang out around the house. This makes me feel old and boring, but we are going to buy a new vacuum tomorrow and I am really excited! I guess that's it for now.
