20 months and a fun weekend

Owen is 20 months plus a week and a half.  He's wearing size 24 month clothes and size 5 shoes. He has been a little more clingy to me than usual, wanting me to hold him a lot around the house.  I think part of it is that he just wants to know what's going on.  He is talking more and more everyday.  He probably uses over 100 words now and is using some 2 word combinations.  He is still a big Elmo fan, but Ernie is becoming a favorite too.  He loves to read and I really feel like he has a great attention span for his age.  He will sit on my lap while I read for as long as I keep reading.  Some foods he really likes are bananas, saltine crackers, and pasta.  He likes to feed Heinz, so we have to keep an eye on him so Heinz doesn't get too much table food.

Last weekend, Marcus's parents visited.  We had a nice trip to the zoo and did a little shopping.  Owen enjoyed going to Bass Pro and seeing the fish and had so much fun playing with his grandparents. We had a date night Friday night after Owen went to bed.  It was so wonderful!!! We went to Dave and Buster and played some games (we're both pretty nerdy and love the trivia game there) and then to the Cheesecake Factory for appetizers and dessert.

I don't have many pictures from last weekend, but here are a few from the zoo.

zoo and splashing

Last weekend, we took Owen to the zoo.  I've taken him by myself a few times lately, but this was the first time   Marcus had gotten to go with us in a long time.

 Let's go this way!
He loves the Children's Zoo section.  It has farm animals that you can pet and brush.

So happy!

Sunday night, they had a great children's event at church called Splash into Summer.  There were inflatable water slides for the big kids, bounce houses, sprinklers, and snacks.  I would have LOVED something like this as a kid.

There are a ton of pretty girls around Owen's age, but he wasn't thrilled about posing with them.

I love the look on his face in this one!

Memorial Day Weekend (2 weeks later)

Memorial Day weekend was especially nice.  Marcus hasn't had a long weekend in months and we were so glad to have some extra time with him. Saturday, we had breakfast and Crackerbarrel with a sweet lady we go to church with. I found an adorable 4th of July outfit for Owen there. That night, we went to a birthday party for our friend Jennifer.  She and her husband, Matt, moved right before Owen has born and have a little boy who is 2 months younger than O.  It was so great to see them and the boys had fun swimming together. Sunday after church, I went shopping at Utica Square and Target with Patrice.  (I've kind of been on a shopping kick lately!) Sunday night we went to our new favorite sushi restaurant with our friends Joe and Katy.  Monday we just stayed home.  I had planned to buy a wading pool for Owen, but he was having tummy problems and swimming didn't seem like a good idea.  It was still nice just to have a day at home together.

19 Months

Wow! I am actually posting this on the day Owen turns 19 months!  Usually my monthly post are a few days or weeks behind.  We had his 18 month check up 2 weeks ago and he was in the 75%ile for weight and height.  He's still wearing mostly size 18 month clothes, but more and more 24 month.  We've really been getting out and doing more activities together, now that the weather is so nice.  He loves going for walks, to the zoo, and to the park.  He's saying about 70 words, learning to eat with a spoon, and getting better at climbing up and down the stairs.  His current favorite book is "Llama Llama Red Pajama."  We read it every night and when we're finished and I put him in his crib he says, "night, night"  followed by "bye".  He is such a sweetie and loves giving hugs and kisses.  I'm so proud of my sweet boy!

Mother's Day Weekend

Our Mother's Day weekend this year was pretty eventful and lots of fun.  Saturday, we hosted a crawfish boil and had a few friends over.  It was fun, but made for a busy day of preparation. This was Marcus's big idea and he'd been planning for months.  Here's my proud husband!  We had quite a bit of crawfish left, so we spent a good hour Sunday evening getting them shelled (Is that what you'd call it?) and we've had etoufee several times this week.

Owen didn't eat crawfish, but had fun with some of his friends.

This isn't the best picture. O was distracted by our neighbor on his bike and I was squinting, but it was the best we could do.  Doesn't he look handsome?  The bowtie melts my heart!

Owen was so thoughtful and got me a spa gift certificate for Mother's Day. Sunday morning, we went to church and to lunch with some friends from class.  After lunch, I went to the mall with my friend Patrice.  It was one of the highlights of my weekend.  I bought several fun new items and it was so nice to have some girl time.  When I got back from the mall, I took Owen to the park.  Marcus taught him how to say "Happy Mama Day"  one word at a time and it was so precious.  I made him do it probably 10 times on Sunday. Being a mom makes me so happy!

18 months!!!

Wow! I cannot believe I'm already writing Owen's 18 month post! Time has truly flown by since our sweet boy arrived.  He is such a precious little boy and makes me so happy every day!

He is still wearing mostly  18 month clothes, size 4 and 5 shoes, and size 4 diapers.  Not exactly sure on weight and height, but last I checked he was around 26 pounds.  Speechwise, he is still doing great.  I've lost count of how many words he uses, but I'd guess around 50.  Some favorite words right now include "Heinz", "cuck" (rock), "all done", "elmo", "outside", and "boo".  It's amazing how much he understands. He can point to so many items and body parts now. I would say he's a decent eater.  He's not picky, but loves his milk and at times seems to prefer it to food.  He eats most things-just not huge amounts. He still loves books. Current favorites are "Where's Spot", "Hickory Dickory Dock", and picture books.  He loves to go outside and doesn't always understand why Mommy doesn't want to go outside super early in the morning or when it's raining.  He's at a great age to take to the zoo, park, bouncy barn, and even just to run errands. He is pretty calm and will just take everything in and occasionally wave at people.  He has gotten better about holding our hands if we let him down to walk.  He's learning how to give kisses and gives most of his kisses to his Daddy, but he usually wants me to hold him and give him hugs.  He does great in daycare and in Bible class.  He has fantastic teachers for both.  That's all for now.

Easter 2012

I love Easter. It's one of my favorite holidays. I love the pastel decorations, the candy, the egg hunts, the feeling of springtime, and especially the fact that it's when we celebrate Jesus's resurrection.  My parents and brother came to visit for Easter weekend, which made me very very happy.  We tried a new barbecue restaurant Friday night, they came to Owen's swim class on Saturday, and we did alot of hanging out at home.

On Sunday morning, Owen spilled coffee (it wasn't hot) on his Easter outfit. I was so sad, because I had a precious outfit planned that included linen shorts and a bowtie.  We were super late for church and  I didn't actually get to attend the church service, because I was helping in the nursery. For lunch we had a frozen pizza, because Marcus was participating in the second service and Owen has asleep by the time he made it home.  It was not a picture perfect Easter, but it was definitely memorable.

I'm hoping to get the stains out of his outfit so he can wear it for Mother's Day...
